Build PhotoCraft from source
This first-run block is copied verbatim from the PhotoCraft README. It does not specify a minimum Rust toolchain version. Optional Japanese fonts come from craft-fonts; desktop releases include them, while source builds without them use system CJK fonts.
git clone https://github.com/storytold/photocraft
cd photocraft
cargo run --release -p photocraft -- image.psd # the desktop app
cargo test --workspace # the test suiteRepository architecture, CLI and MCP
The README describes a data-oriented document model and command engine under a thin egui interface, with build-enforced layering across 24 crates. A CPU reference compositor and a wgpu canvas compositor are tested against each other. Sparse copy-on-write tiles support undo; the engine and interface also compile to WebAssembly.
Its registry contains 500+ commands shared by the UI, CLI, JSON control channel and MCP server. The desktop control channel is authenticated and loopback-only. New contributors and AI agents are directed to AGENTS.md and docs/.

Public source and stars do not constitute a security audit; read the safety evidence and limits.
